Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. This is what to expect.
Before you sign up
Create an account first; see Getting started. Read how your event's teams are organised and what each role asks of you; the organisers link their team descriptions from the portal when they have them.
Signing up
- Sign in and open Volunteer.
- Choose Create my volunteer profile.
- Fill in the required fields: the hours you can give, how to reach you, and the teams you are interested in. Add what you are good at and where you work or what you build, so we can match you to a team that fits. Your GitHub username and, when the event uses Discord, your Discord username are required; the other handles are optional. They are your account's handles, shared with your speaker profile if you have one, so a change here follows there and back.
You get an email saying your application was received. When an edition is not taking applications, the page says so and the form is closed.
Review
The team leads review applications and assign people to teams and roles. Once you are approved you get access to the team's tools, such as the chat server, shared drive or calendar, and an onboarding email with the steps. We write to the email address you signed up with.
Your tasks
Once you are on a team, My volunteering tasks lists what the organisers have handed to you or your team, with due dates. Tick a task when it is done; some tick themselves.
